ABOUT Santino-Sonny:
Santino, Sonny for short is a three year old. He was born blind, however, he is a trooper. He has learned how to navigate our home and is very comfortable. He learned to play fetch with a special ball, and now can play with any kind of a ball. He has learned tricks and is quite impressive!

Update 9/6/09 Sonny has made so much more progress! He acts so normal I forget that he is blind. He has his parents trained so well! Every morning when his Mommy opens her eyes, Sonny's little head pops up from the pillow and he smothers her with kisses. Then the fun begins. Mommy goes to the kitchen to make the coffee and Sonny searches for his ball. Mommy sits on the floor with her coffee cup in hand and a game of fetch begins. We start with the commands "On your mark, get set , GO" and Sonny fetches the ball. After returning with the ball, then we play tug of war, with the ball. This goes on for 20 to 30 minutes. In between fetching the ball, Sonny rolls the ball to his food dish, takes a few nibbles and guards his ball until he is ready to resume playing. When he is all tired out, he goes over to his treat box and waits for a treat. Sometimes if Mommy forgets to close the lid, Sonny helps himself to a treat! He has really amazed us wiith other games that he has trained us to play! Sonny has numerous hiding places in the house where he hides his treats. Whenever he is hungry, he goes to one of his hiding places and retrieves a snack. It's so cute! Needless to say, Sonny is obsesses with playing ball, and
other games, and his Mommy and Daddy are trained very well by him as his playmates!
