What This Man Does To Convince Rescue Dog To Eat Is SO Touching

By Kayleigh Roberts

When dogs are rescued, they're sometimes in bad shape. They might be sick, malnourished, or so scared that they have a hard time recovering from everything they've been through.

As Fox 13 News reports, Graycie the dog was in bad shape when she arrived at Granite Hills Animal Care in Elberton, Georgia. She was emaciated, dehydrated, hypothermic, and suffering from an extremely painful prolapse when she was brought in.

Graycie was so scared, in fact, that the workers at the shelter couldn't get her to eat. Enter Dr. Andy Mathis, a hero vet who came up with a brilliant plan to nurse her back to health.

Dr. Mathis got into Graycie's cage with her for breakfast.

He put his breakfast in a metal bowl just like hers to show her that it was okay to eat.

And he sat with her, eating breakfast and keeping her calm even as other animals passed by the cage to visit.

WATCH: This veterinarian knew he had to get this starving rescued puppy to eat something, so he did an experiment. He got in the cage along with her, put his breakfast in a metal bowl just like hers, and showed her that they are equals- both deserving a good meal, and a little love.
