Actress Nina Dobrev is beloved by her legions of Vampire Diary fans. (And, of course, taking it WAY back, her Degrassi: The Next Generation groupies.) So she's got a lot of love coming her way as she copes during this difficult time following the death of her cherished cat Lynx, who passed away at 18 years of age.
Vampire Diaries Star, Nina Dobrev, Posts Touching Tribute After Loss Of Her Cat
Dobrev did what one does in the Age of Social Media and published an Instagram tribute to Lynx, her "sweet, sweet angel" and her "soulmate."
"As I look back on the last 18 years together, I smile through my tears," Dobrev began her tribute. "You brought me so much joy, love, unlimited cuddles, and so many sandpaper kisses. I still remember the first day I brought you home, the size of a tea cup purring as I held you in my hands. You were so fragile and furry, as soft as the worlds tiniest cashmere blanket. I knew in that moment you were my soulmate. From there our long journey began and we were inseparable."
Dobrev is 28, so do some quick math, and the actress, closing in on 30, was an elementary schooler when she met her furry soulmate. Eighteen years is a heck of a long time, and as Dobrev details in her post, the two traveled all across North America during their two decades together.
"We grew up together in Toronto, then you followed me to Atlanta, and from there we road tripped across the United States through New Orleans, Austin City, Amarillo Texas, Santa Fe, Las Vegas, we even saw the Grand Canyon for our first time together. Our last chapter and final destination was here in Los Angeles."
In her post, Dobrev says that saying goodbye to Lynx this weekend "was the most difficult thing I have had to do in my life."
"It was bittersweet," she continues, "but I'm so happy I got to hold you in my arms one last time."
She concludes by explaining that even though she knows her sweet friend is gone, she can still feel Lynx with her.
"I miss you more than words can explain, but I can still feel your presence, energy and light. I know you're still with me and will always be a part of me, no matter where I go. In sickness and in health until death do us part."
Anyone who's ever lost a beloved pet ABSOLUTELY understands this feeling. Our hearts go out to Dobrev during this tough time. We are so glad she had such a wonderful soulmate, best friend, and "sweet sweet angel."
