Man Unrecognizable After Weight Loss, But His Dog Knows Him With One Sniff

By Kayleigh Roberts

When Shane Godfrey became seriously ill, he lost more than 50 pounds and spent five weeks away from his beloved dog, Willie, during his recovery process. By the time he saw Willie again, he was basically unrecognizable, Metro reports.

In fact, when Willie first got a look at Shane, he didn't recognize his old friend. He kept his distance and barked aggressively.

Then, he went around to Shane's other side to get another look at him — still while keeping his distance and barking like the well-trained guard dog he is.

Finally, some of Shane's friends were able to coax Willie into getting close to the man who looked NOTHING like his human dad/best friend. As soon as Willie got close enough for a sniff, something magical happened though.

The moment of recognition was immediate and beautiful and will make you believe in the power of love and the universe. Willie immediately realized Shane was his lifelong BFF and showered him in hugs, kisses, and general affection.
