April The Giraffe’s Handlers Announce Her Newborn Baby Boy’s Name & It’s SO Cute
For many, it's been like waiting to unwrap gifts beneath the Christmas tree. For others, waiting for April the Giraffe to announce the name of her brand new baby calf has been much more real. Maybe we'd compare this gut-wrenching anticipation to waiting for the season finale of The Bachelor.
Whatever the moment has been like for you, the time has come for the big unveil.
Drum roll, please!
Tajiri is a Swahili name for boys that means "hope," and it's now the nom de plume of what may be the most-popular baby giraffe in the U.S.
The name was chosen by April the Giraffe's handlers, Alyssa and Corey, who won the privilege of naming the baby calf during a contest held by Animal Adventure Park. The name was announced Monday morning on both Good Morning America and a Facebook lifestream from the giraffe pen at the park.
Park officials presented the top ten names to the public last week for a round of voting which ended on Sunday night. The park claims the voting public chose to let those closest to April the Giraffe name her newborn calf.
- Allow April's handler, Allysa, to choose the name.
It's been nearly three weeks since April the Giraffe gave birth to her heckin' cute lil' baby boy at Animal Adventure Park home in Harpursville, New York.
I mean, who can forget this lovely birth photo that was shared on Instagram.
The magic moment was live-streamed on Facebook and has since been viewed more than 14 million times.
Do you think the park got the name right? What would you have named April the Giraffe's newborn?
