This Brave Cat Courted His Lady Love & His Persistence Paid Off

By Briana Hansen

Cats may get a reputation for being independent creatures. And Sophie, a beautiful black-and-white rescue kitten who was adopted in 2014, is certainly a strong, independent kitty. But, like all ladies, she can find a soft spot for a special someone if courted properly.

And that's exactly what Scottie, the neighbor's orange and white cat, did.

Scottie wasn't brazen about swooning over his love. He took his time. According to Sophie's owner, he was a smitten kitten when he first saw Sophie. But he kept his distance for a long while.

Scottie simply admired his love from afar while Sophie, of course, played it coyly. Her owner said, "Sophie was too busy for him... but soon he became bolder and would sit closer like he was waiting for an invite to join in. Sophie didn't seem to mind he was there as long as she didn't have to pay attention to him much."

Eventually, like every good romance, Scottie dug deep and found the courage to finally introduce himself to his lady love.

After a while, Sophie began not only expecting Scottie to come around, but actually looking forward to hanging out with him.

Now, when Sophie goes for her daily strut around the neighborhood, she looks for Scottie to join her.

And Scottie is always happy to oblige.

Like any good suitor, Scottie just wants to spend time with Sophie. He lets her run the show and seems perfectly content doing whatever she wants.

Scottie is just happy to be in Sophie's glorious presence.

And their love clearly isn't a one-way street.

Whenever Sophie is out and about, she excitedly awaits her loyal love to show up.

And even though most of their time is spent staring into space or scoping out the neighborhood, they always make time for some sweet stolen kisses.

Because, hey, when you know, you know.
