Necessity, as they say, is the mother of invention.
So when Cheddar the cat wouldn't stop poking at a skin condition that was leading to infections, his human mom, a fashion designer and seamstress, was forced to take drastic measures — or tiny, kitty-sized measurements as it were.
In a tweet that has since gone massively viral, Nykol Tolstych, a Chicago resident, shared an outfit repurposed from an old flannel shirt that she sewed just for her ginger baby, along with the following caption:
"Most of u know cheddar has medical issues and tears thru his bandages. pet clothes r expensive so I made him a flannel out of an old sleeve💓"
BEFORE WE CONTINUE LET'S STOP AND MARVEL AT CHEDDAR'S LITTLE FACE ONE MORE TIME. CAN YOU DEAL WITH THE CUTENESS? OMG IT'S JUST TOO MUCH!!!
People on Twitter were pretty stoked about his chic new look.
"I'm gonna need more photos of your cat," wrote one man.
Others aked what they could do to help.
"Omg can we donate old (but still good condition) small pet clothes and old flannel sleeves?"
Some started to post pictures of clothes they had designed for their pets.
After the buzz around the original tweet ebbed, Tolstych revealed a second new ensemble — and this one came complete with a hood!
A bevy of requests even prompted the Chicago resident to consider adding pet clothing to her Etsy shop.
Until that day arrives, let's fawn over these adorable snaps of her furry ride-or-die.
