The puppy wasn't entirely alone — he also had a note from his owner, explaining why she had to leave the dog behind. And honestly, everything about this will break your heart.

The note read:

"Hi! I'm Chewy! My owner was in an abusive relationship and couldn't afford me to get on the flight. She didn't want to leave me with all her heart but she has NO other option. My ex-boyfriend kicked my dog when we were fighting and he has a big knot on his head. He probably needs a vet. I love Chewy sooo much - please love and take care of him."

The person who found Chewy turned him over to Connor and Millie's Dog Rescue, where he's being very well taken of.

It's all working out okay though — there are so many people interested in adopting Chewy that the rescue had to post an update reminding everyone that there isn't enough Chewy to go around (but remember lots of other dogs still need loving homes).
