Good Samaritan Is Living In A Kennel To Prevent Animal Cruelty

By Kayleigh Roberts

YouTuber Elton Castee is making a big statement for helping animals in need. On Sunday, Castee moved into a dog kennel at Long Beach's animal shelter, and he's not coming out until he's raised $100,000 for the Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals' Los Angeles chapter.

Castee is live-streaming the whole event, so you can follow along on his journey online.

Elton's own dog, Sparta, was adopted from the Long Beach shelter. Sparta passed away last year, and we can't think of a better way for Elton to honor his pup's memory and put his internet fame to good use.

As of this writing, Elton had raised more than $60,000 toward his goal. You can donate to prevent animal cruelty by visiting the SPCA's fundraising page or, if you live in Southern California, you can visit him in person during the fundraiser. He's in kennel #420 at the P.D. Pitchford Companion Animal Village & Education Center at 7700 E. Spring St and the shelter is open from 10-4.
