Man Charged After Video Shows Him Cruelly Abandoning A Dog On The Highway
A troubling story comes to a happy close now that the dog seen being cruelly abandoned below is happy in his new home, and the alleged perpetrator of the crime is being prosecuted.
The SPCA of Texas says a man, George Spears, 62, turned himself into authorities after surveillance cameras caught him abandoning a dog on the side of the road in Dallas, Texas.
The poor pup was ditched earlier in August before witnesses located and took the dog to Dallas Animal Services where she was recently adopted and given the adorable name KD by her new mom Reagan Henderson.
"She is quite possibly the sweetest dog I have ever met. From the time we got home on Saturday to now, KD has brought so much love into my home already. She enjoys cuddling on the couch, watching tv, and going for walks around the neighborhood," the new dog mom lovingly posted to Facebook. "Thank you to the people who rescued her and to the SPCA who brought us together."
The SPCA of Texas shared the video of Spears pulling KD from a car and leaving her by the side of the road. Spears confessed to abandoning the dog, reports King 5 News, telling officials he was trying to help his sister who was no longer able to care for the pup. Spears is facing one count of cruelty to animals.
According to the Dallas Morning News, the area where Spears allegedly abandoned KD is a well-known dumping area for pets and garbage, which is why the Dallas Marshall's Office installed the cameras that captured this heinous crime.
