Every puppy needs a name — and the adorable lab pictured ⬆️ ⬆️ ⬆️ is no exception.
But this little guy isn't just someone's new pet; he's the newest employee of Bell MTS Place, an indoor arena in Winnipeg, Canada that hosts Jets games (a team that competes in the National Hockey League).
Writing on the squad's website, stadium management revealed that the wee woofer has joined their security team in a very important role:
"As part of True North's commitment to providing a safe and enjoyable experience for all Bell MTS Place patrons, we have introduced an in-house security dog team (Explosive Ordnance Disposal dogs, or EOD) this season as part of the overall security service we provide at all True North venues and events.
Even better, they offered fans the opportunity to help pin a new handle on him.
"Thanks to Winnipeg Jets season seat holders for submitting some great names - it's now up to you to help us pick the name that best suits this face by casting your vote."
Because naming polls hosted on the internet are sometimes hijacked by trolls (see Boaty McBoatface or Mr. Spaghetti), the options are currently limited to one of four choices: Benny, Ducky, Lenny/Kroppy or Scout.
While they all skew a bit
pedestrian paw-destrian (and I, personally, would name him something more topical like, say, Puck), these names are all totally suitable nonetheless.
Still, that didn't prevent some supporters from suggesting their own ideas, most punning on the names and nicknames of current or former players.
But act fast, lest you get iced out (soz, not soz): According to the team, voting will be open until Wednesday, Nov. 8 at 11:59 p.m. (that's tonight!!!) and the winning selection will be announced at the next home game, which is this Friday (Nov. 10).
