Sometimes dogs destroy things. That's what dogs do. But when the dog's owner is in law enforcement, things get real.

Video of the Day

San Juan County Undersheriff Shane Ferrari and his family woke up last week to a crime scene — their beloved elf decoration (which they called "Holly Christmas") was beheaded and destroyed, with fluffy stuffing everywhere.

Because Ferrari is an investigator, he followed the trail of stuffing to the doggie door, proving the culprit was none other than the family dog, Josie.

Ferrari immediately "took Josie into custody" and even posted her mugshots on Facebook for a little public shaming.

The mugshots have been shared thousands of times on Facebook and Josie has been sentenced to wearing an adorable prison jumpsuit and being internet famous.

Seems like a fair price to pay.
