But, as one Colorado couple recently discovered, it can also be bent around more farcical ends.

OMG: This Cheetah Gave Birth to a Record Number of Cubs & Spoiler — They're All Adorable

In a now viral post published earlier in the month, Lucy Schultz and her boyfriend, Steven, celebrated the arrival of their new baby, only instead of 10 toes and smooth skin, this one — a boy! — came out of the womb with 18 claws and a coat full of fur.

"On 1/10/18 we welcome our first baby kitten, a neutered male DLH. He is 22" long and weighed 6 pounds 7 oz. He is already eating solid food. Name to be announced. We are so in love <3," read the waggish, tongue-firmly-in-cheek caption.

Because LOLs are the currency of the realm here on the internet, the 32-image photoset quickly spread beyond their friend circle, spilling over to other social media platforms, viral aggregators, and cute spotters like, ahem, Cuteness [dot] com (that's us!).

And why not? Theses glowing snaps — which were captured by Schultz's friend, Elizabeth Woods-Darby, have piled up more than 77,000+ "Shares" — are adorbs overload.

Not surprisingly, most readers found it both funny and relatable: "The only kind of future baby i'm having haha" and "this is me" were recurring takes woven into the OP's sprawling comment chain.

Still, there were those skeptics who thought the duo's frank depiction of the birthing process was just a little ~too~ real.

While Lucy and Steven remain somewhat bemused by the buzz, the new kitten, it seems, has already grown accustomed to a life in the spotlight:

"It's been a weird couple of days with #catbirth going viral. The new arrival and I are about to be on Denver's 9 news at 6pm.. because of course he crashed my video interview." 😂 😂 😂

Never change, cat, never change.
