World’s Friendliest Mail Carrier Does A Kindness For His Favorite Dog
When you think of the special bond between a dog and the mailman, you probably imagine those old cartoons where the ferocious dog is growling and barking while he chases the poor mailman down the street as white envelopes scatter along the road.
But that's just because you haven't met Jeff and Tashi yet.
Over the past few years Jeff Kramer, a self proclaimed dog lover and neighborhood mail carrier, formed an unlikely friendship with a 14-year-old black lab named Tashi who lives along his route. Tashi always greets him with a wagging tail, and it's the highlight of Kramer's day every single time.
As the years past though, Tashi's aging joints became increasingly stiff. He's since had to rely on his humans to carry his 70-pound body in and out of the house every day since he can't manage the porch steps anymore. It was (literally) becoming quite the pain.
And that was Kramer's cue to come to the rescue. He had to say goodbye to his own elderly dog Odie a few yeas back and just so happened to have a wooden ramp sitting unused in his backyard. Rather than throw it away, he figured the ramp might be able to help Tashi just like it helped his pal.
So without being asked, Kramer brought over the ramp and installed it for the lab on his next day off. Tashi's owner, Karen Dimetrosky couldn't be more grateful. "It's incredible," she told the Daily Camera. "I can't imagine not having the ramp now. It's the only way he gets in and out."
We've all heard the saying "dog is man's best friend", but who wouldn't want to be BFF's with someone as great as this mailman?
