Step out in style at the dog park with a modern dip-dyed leash. It's just about the easiest DIY you're probably ever going to make. All you need is a little water and Kool-Aid, and your pooch will be the envy of her furry friends.
Use Kool-Aid To Dip Dye A Leash
Things You'll Need
- Cotton rope leash
- Kool-Aid, 5 powder packets (unsweetened)
- Rubber gloves
Combine five packets of Kool-Aid powder with 3 cups of water in a large mixing bowl. Be sure to use unsweetened Kool-Aid to avoid a sticky mess. Pro tip: Work on a drop cloth or surface you don't mind getting stained.
Submerge 2/3 of the rope into the Kool-Aid mixture. Remember to wear rubber gloves because the Kool-Aid will stain your hands.
Immediately pull out half of the dyed rope and drape it over the side of the bowl. Press another bowl on top of the other half and then soak for 3 hours.
Spritz the section of rope where the white meets the dyed portion to blend it and create a more subtle ombre effect.
Let the rope dry overnight before using.
Have fun experimenting with other colors, too!
- Purple -- grape flavor
- Aqua -- blue raspberry flavor
- Green -- green apple flavor
- Orange -- orange flavor
- Pink -- cherry flavor
