Things You'll Need

  • Cotton rope leash
  • Kool-Aid, 5 powder packets (unsweetened)
  • Rubber gloves

Step 1

Combine five packets of Kool-Aid powder with 3 cups of water in a large mixing bowl. Be sure to use unsweetened Kool-Aid to avoid a sticky mess. Pro tip: Work on a drop cloth or surface you don't mind getting stained.

Step 2

Submerge 2/3 of the rope into the Kool-Aid mixture. Remember to wear rubber gloves because the Kool-Aid will stain your hands.

Step 3

Immediately pull out half of the dyed rope and drape it over the side of the bowl. Press another bowl on top of the other half and then soak for 3 hours.

Step 4

Spritz the section of rope where the white meets the dyed portion to blend it and create a more subtle ombre effect.
