How to Make Healthy Homemade Dog Treats
Give your companion healthy treats without buying pricey gourmet dog cookies. It's easy to bake your own homemade dog treats. Preparing baked goods for your pooch is similar to making goodies for humans -- the only difference is in the ingredients. Even though your homemade doggie treats are healthy, you still should feed them to your pet in moderation.
Preheat your oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit.
Spray a cookie sheet with nonstick cooking spray or line it with parchment paper.
Put the egg, vegetable oil, baby food and water in a bowl. Mix until thoroughly combined without beating the egg into a froth.
Sift the salt, flour and powdered milk into a separate bowl.
Pour the wet ingredients on top of the dry mixture. Stir the mixture together until it forms a smooth, uniform dough -- don't overmix it.
Place the dough on a floured countertop. Roll it out to about 1/2-inch thickness so you can bake the treats thoroughly without burning the edges.
Use cookie cutters to cut out different shapes. Place the treats on a cookie sheet. Bake for 20 to 30 minutes, or until the edges lightly brown.
Cool your homemade dog treats thoroughly on a wire rack. Store them in an airtight container.
