How to Instantly Remove Skunk Odor From a Dog

Dealing with a dog that's been sprayed by a skunk is not a pleasant experience, for you or for your pet. Neutralize the odor quickly with a shampoo made with just a few ingredients you probably have on hand. Repeat the bath if needed to totally neutralize the odor, so your dog -- and your home -- can return to normal.

Step 1

Pour the hydrogen peroxide into a glass or plastic container.

Step 2

Add the baking soda and dish soap, and mix. Do not put a lid on the container when mixing.

Step 3

Immediately after mixing the ingredients, work the solution into your dog's fur, avoiding the eyes and mouth. Let the solution sit for 10 minutes.

Step 4

Rinse your dog thoroughly with water and repeat the washing, if necessary.
