Cats are known to scratch their nails on furniture. You can't be everywhere all the time, so you won't always be able to catch them. Since it is difficult to teach a cat to keep their claws off of furniture, a better solution is to make a cat repellent. You can spray your furniture with the repellent and then walk away. Cats will no longer go near the furniture and your furniture will be scratch-free.
How to Make Cat Repellent for Furniture
Add 1 qt. of water to an empty spray bottle.
Put 1 1/2 tsp. of cayenne pepper in the water.
Place 20 drops of orange oil into the spray bottle.
Add 20 drops of eucalyptus oil to the spray bottle.
Screw the lid to the spray bottle back on. Give it a good shake.
Find a spot on the furniture that you can test to make sure that the solution won't change the color of the furniture.
Use the spray on any piece of furniture you want to repel your cat from.
