How to Register Service Dogs for Free

Service dogs are commonly viewed with high regard for the aid and comfort they provide for persons with disabilities. The U.S. Service Dog Registry offers service dog registration free, but there may be items you wish to purchase to distinguish your dog as a service dog, especially if he will be accompanying you to certain businesses or facilities.

Registering and identifying your service dog are two different things, although federal law does not require a dog to be certified or registered for the purpose of providing service. You can register your service dog for no cost by visiting The U.S. Service Dog Registry website. When you visit the website, you'll be directed to create an account. Once this step is complete, follow the directions for registering your dog. This service is free, however you may wish to purchase identification tags or a service vest to identify your dog as a service animal, especially for the purpose of entering businesses where dogs would not otherwise be admitted.
