15 Reasons We'll Miss Bo & Sunny When They Leave the White House
As President Obama's time in the White House comes to a close, we have to prepare for a lot of changes. We'll have a new President, a new First Family, and, of course, we'll have to say goodbye to our all-time favorite First Dogs, Bo and Sunny Obama. Bo and Sunny have served America well in their role as First Dogs, and we'll miss seeing them frolic on the White House lawn and appear in official photos.
In honor of our nation's literal top dogs, here are 15 reasons we'll miss Bo and Sunny Obama when they leave the White House.
1 - Bo took #twinning goals to a new level.
Here's Bo posing with this larger-than-life decoration of himself in the White House, because he's amazing.
2 - Bo brought IMMENSE joy to President Obama.
And that brought us joy. We're not sure Obama was ever more relatable than in this picture of him petting Bo with the enthusiasm of a child.
3 - They traveled in style.
We can only dream of flying aboard Air Force One, but Bo treated the honor like it was NBD, like on this trip the First Family took to Hawaii. Look how chill he is.
4 - They took the best BFF pics with Michelle Obama.
Michelle Obama is a mom to Sasha and Malia, but she's also a dog mom to Sunny and Bo. Just look at her loving on them in the Map Room. JUST LOOK.
5 - They made the entire White House their play space.
Humans in the White House have to act dignified and mature. Dogs in the White House can lay down on the floor and roll over for a belly rub any time they please because dogs are the best.
6 - Bo got into the holiday spirit in a big way.
Bo didn't just participate in White House holidays like the Easter Egg Roll, he dressed the part for special occasions. Plus, he looks better in bunny ears than any human we know (sorry, Regina George).
7 - Bo made snow days the best days.
Of course Bo spent a lot of time with Barack and Michelle, but he never forgot that a dog's first responsibility is to the kids in the house. Here he is frolicking with Malia and Sasha (and Michelle) during a snowstorm, like the amazing best friend he is.
8 - Bo was crazy photogenic.
When there are pictures of a dog frolicking in the snow with the First Daughters and FLOTUS, and the best picture from the day is a solo shot, you know that's a dog the camera LOVES.
9 - Bo celebrated birthdays.
Human birthday parties are good, but dog birthday parties are GREAT. The White House just won't be the same without Bo celebrating his special day on the lawn.
10 - Sunny was always down for a belly rub.
Sunny was right at home in the Obama family from day one. Here she is on literally her first day in the White House, enjoying a spectacular belly rub from the POTUS himself.
11 - Bo ran the show at the White House.
Or at least he ran — a lot. The first time Bo visited the White House, in March 2009 (he officially moved in in April 2009), he ran the East Colonnade with President Obama and set the tone for his tenure as First Dog.
12 - Bo’s puppy dog face was epic.
Sure, every dog knows how to break out the sad eyes when they need to, but Bo was a certified pro. Here he is waiting to leave with Michelle Obama to visit Maryland Fisher House IV at Walter Reed National Military Medical Center in 2013. THOSE EYES.
13 - Bo and Sunny could be formal AF.
Remember that time they say at the table in the State Dining Room like they were foreign dignitaries visiting the White House? Because we'll never forget it.
14 - Bo loved to go to work with his very important dad.
Here he is, casually strolling into the Oval Office like it's NBD.
15 - Bo made sure Obama found time to relax.
Being President is a demanding job, but even the POTUS needs a break every now and then. Bo got President Obama to take a break every now and then — like for a quick game of football and a belly rub. Just Bo, doing his part to make our country great.
