Everyone's favorite celebrity sourpuss will be making her Broadway debut in — you guessed it — Cats. Starting September 20, 2016, Grumpy Cat will share the stage with British pop singer Leona Lewis (who plays Grizabella the Glamour Cat) in this revival production of the hit Andrew Lloyd Webber musical.
The frowny-feline is the first ever actual cat to be cast in the show and we think it's about time! To be fair, though, cats aren't particularly known for having soothing singing voices, and no one's confirmed whether Grumpy will be belting out any tunes in the show. We're guessing no.
When asked to give a statement about landing this historic role, she replied: "Being selected as the first real cat to perform in Cats on Broadway is an honor. I hate it," she said. "If I'm really being honest, I'd prefer to play the Phantom in The Phantom of the Opera."
Oh well. Some cats are just impossible to please.
