Sophia Bush Made a Touching Tribute To Her Pitbull, Patch
Sophia Bush said goodbye to her beloved dog, Patch, this week. She announced his passing on Instagram with a beautiful picture and an even more beautiful caption.
"I said goodbye to my best friend yesterday," she wrote with the picture. "I don't quite have the words yet, but the condolences are coming in fast as the word has spread. Thank you to everyone who loved Patch, and is sending that love my way. He changed a lot of lives, truly. I watched this dog soothe people, heal people, help people, and make people laugh, squeal, and grin with happiness. He was one in a million. Yesterday my loved ones and I made sure to give him #PatchsVeryBestDay. And today being #NationalDogDay feels like such a sweet coincidence. I think he'd like that. Thank you P. You are so missed. "
Bush has always been vocal about her love for animals and her advocacy for rescuing animals. She has a specific soft spot for pit bull rescues; Patch and his two adopted siblings, Penny and Griffin, are all pit bull rescues.
Bush has always been an adoption advocate. "I can't encourage people enough, please don't buy animals. Please, please adopt," she told People in 2011. "I think it's ridiculous to support over-breeding, puppy mills, cruelty in any avenue – when there are thousands of dogs a day getting put down because no one wants them. And rescue dogs are always nicer than purebred dogs, anyway."
Our hearts go out to Bush (and everyone who knew and loved Patch) during this difficult time.
