This Brave Blind Cat Adopted a Cat of His Own
Meet Martin the Cat. Martin is completely blind after having the remains of his ruptured eyes surgically removed. Originally a street cat, he was adopted by a loving family and life was looking up for Martin. Unfortunately, according to his mom, Reddit user Marmie_McMom, Martin didn't exactly get along with the reigning family cat, Miss Kitty.
"When Martin arrived in our home we tried to introduce him to our 14-year-old Miss Kitty. Unfortunately, Miss Kitty was an only cat for 14 years and she immediately vowed to hate Martin's guts for the rest of her life," she wrote.
When it became obvious that Miss Kitty and Martin weren't going to bond (Marmie says Martin would spend his nights crying outside Miss Kitty's bedroom door while she hissed at him from the other side — not exactly the foundation of a strong friendship), Marmie started to look for other ideas to make his time in their family happier.
Since two cats weren't getting along, you might think it would be crazy to throw another cat into the mix, but that's exactly what Marmie decided to do, and it was the best decision. She took Martin to the shelter to let him pick out and adopt his own new BFF.
After Martin rejected a kitten and an orange tabby, Marmie got some first-hand proof that the third time's the charm.
"Then comes this pretty, two-year-old tuxedo cat," Marmie wrote. "They smelled each other and touched noses. He knew. And we knew that this was the guy. We named him Mr. Pinkerton and Martin brought him home."
Now, Martin and Mr. Pinkerton are BFFs. And Miss Kitty? She grudgingly accepts that she has some new roommates, even if she refuses to be part of the squad herself.
