Hi, my name is Modena and I am a Silkie chick. I was named after the Modena breed of pigeon because I remind mommy of one. I love running and playing with my sister, and cuddling with mommy.

Francis/Francine
Chicken
Female

I am a little black chicken. I was taken in from a very rough home and had a rough start. My coop mate drew blood on me in the beginning but after being separated for a a bit longer and having my owner clean and take care of my wounds, everything is good again. I love to make little sounds to let people know I'm near.

I am a little salt and pepper Holland chicken. I like to crow when I feel lonely and I've decided the egg laying life wasn't the one for me. My old coop mate, Ruth, past away recently and I now have a new one, Francis! I like to be the boss of the yard.

I am a Silkie chicken, and I have a condition known as "scissor beak" which causes the bottom half of my beak to twist to the side. I live in the house with my humans, and enjoy sleeping on the bed or the couch. I also like going outside and playing in the sand with the young chicks.

December 05 2014: I hatched.

June 26 2015: Suffered heat stroke. Mommy got to me in time to cool me back down, but I felt ill for several days.

June 28 2015: Met my half sister, Edwardina Scissorbeak.

September 15 2015: Passed on to the Rainbow Bridge.

Tiger
Chicken
Female

BAWK BAWK BAWK! Hello, My name's Tiger and I am a very proud mommy. Here's my story:

Every night, I sleep on the window sill in the chicken house. One night my owner went to check on me, and I wasn't there. She was very worried. I am a bit of a rebel, so everyday I fly out of the chicken pen and go catch the bugs outside. But we have coyotes in our bush, so my owner started crying thinking that I was attacked. But she eventually found me. I decided to lay a bunch of eggs in the neighbor's dog house. My owner was so happy to find me. I layed 21 eggs in the dog house, and I sat on them for about a month, trying to hatch them. God blessed me with one beautiful girl. My owner named her "Miracle" because she said that she truly was a Miracle from God.

My baby grew very very fast. She started off as a yellow chick, but now she is a beautiful white hen. She takes after her daddy's color. Sadly, my husband died a few months ago. We both miss him very much.

I can't believe how fast my baby grew! She's now as big as me!!! Every night, we sleep up near the ceiling of the shed, We like to perch up there. :)

THINGS I LOVE: bugs, meat, baby chick food, having dirt baths
THINGS I HATE: hawks, coyotes, dogs who scare me

Little Man
Chicken
Male

Little Man is new to our flock. He came from a place that was not nice. An individual put over 250 eggs in a commercial incubator. When almost all of them hatched he panicked! He put the new chicks in rooms in an old dilapidated house on his property. The poor things had no place to perch, little water and had to compete for space and food. He says he didn't know that many would actually hatch. Not a stupid person. he just didn't do his homework before he put them in to grow! These little ones have never seen sunshine or felt rain or even had dirt or grass beneath them. They had never been held until I purchased them. They were caught, put into a box and let out into a new place. he was very thin and had a bare bottom. The others had eaten his tail feathers for nutrients. I wish I could have adopted more but I just don't have the room. He and 2 hens are gaining weight and earning my trust. They are slowly starting to come to the door of their pen and letting me stroke their backs. They are Barred Old English Game Birds. They are Bantams ( miniatures). When they arrived they all weighed about a half a pound which is about half the weight they should be. They are all doing much better now. Updated 2/24/12 I am in my new bigger pen! I am really enjoying having dirt under me to scratch in. Mom gave me and my 2 girls some grapes today! They are awesome! I am even letting mom pick me up.She gives the best hugs and loves to let me sit on her shoulder like the other roosters do. I am going to have a long and wonderful home here forever!

Margherita
Chicken
Female

Greetings, pets of Cuteness. My name is Margherita. I have an Italian name because my breed (the gold pencilled Sicilian Buttercup) is well, Sicilian, if you hadn't guessed. I'm a rare breed pullet (young hen), which means I'll hopefully do very well in the poultry shows my mum enters all the time. I haven't been to one yet, but the next is in 2 weeks, so I'm very excited. Sicilian Buttercups are so rare, not many are around anymore, and judges have a soft spot for rare breeds.
I was adopted when my mum's beloved hen Beyonce died - her profile is still here at Cuteness. Pixie and Treacle (the other hens who are also here) needed another friend, so here I am. I wouldn't exactly call them friends yet... Pixie still chases and pecks me, but I get on much better with Treacle, since she is sick, we have grown closer. Because I'm so small it'll take me a while to be fully accepted, but I'll get there.
I haven't laid any eggs yet because I'm young, but when I do they'll be white. I love worms and foraging in the garden, something I couldn't do before I came to my home, because I lived at a breeding centre that kept the chickens inside for protection. I like it much more here.
I'm also very good at flying - well, jumping high with the aid of my wings. I've flown over my 4ft electric fence, over the 6ft hedge and onto next door's car in one go. My mum wasn't very happy about that.
I hope I can make lots of new friends here at Cuteness!

Treacle
Chicken
Female

I am Treacle, my human's first hen, and I've been through quite a lot in my life, but now I can rest in peace.
My human adopted me and my friend Honey on 29th April 2008, when we were six weeks old. I am a Black Rock crossed with a Rhode Island Red; a Miss Pepperpot crossbred, and Honey was a Light Sussex crossed with a Rhode Island Red; a Gingernut Ranger crossbred. I still remember that day. Honey and I had only just met, but we became great friends. We went to our first small poultry show in the following August, and the August after that in the Children's Pet Bird class, and I won 1st and Honey 2nd. I still do several shows a year now, and have even won a trophy at a championship show for Best Crossbred!
However, poor Honey is not with me anymore. She suffered a kidney infection in early 2010, and was quite ill for a while, on medicine and kept in the vets overnight. But sadly, just as she was starting to get better, a fox caught and mauled her on 29th January 2010 in our own very garden, and carried her off. It would have killed me too, but luckily I hid in a bush, and was saved. I witness Honey's horrific attack. It was awful, and I will never forget seeing my best friend killed. My humans found her body, and had her cremated. I will never forget you Honey, RIP. A couple of months later, my friend Beyonce was adopted, and then in September 2010, my other friend Pixie was too. You can see them both right here at Cuteness, though Beyonce has now passed on. She had an untimely death, but she will always be remembered.
I went up to the Rainbow Fields on 14th October 2011, so I am now reunited with Beyonce and Honey. As a hybrid, my time was short, and I also suffered my undiscovered cancer in the last few days of my life. I died at the vets in the night, before any more tests could be done.
I'm glad I lived such a good, happy life, though it had it's ups and downs. Please remember me my friends.

Beyonce
Chicken
Female

I think you can all guess who I was named after! Unfortunately I passed away on 18th September 2011. I was very sad to have left my humans and my dear friends Pixie and Treacle, though Treacle has now joined me. I choked on something that obviously wasn't edible. I never was very clever, always trying to eat things that were very appetising. My mum was very upset, we had many good times together, but I can watch over her from Rainbow Fields, and be with Treacle and her old friend Honey, who I never met when I was alive, but I was always told that I would have liked her. Farewell, Cuteness friends.

Pixie
Chicken
Female

Cluck cluck! Hellooo pets of Cuteness! My name is Pixie, named because of the fact that I am small (a black bantam Orpington to be precise) and since my humans aquired me after my late roommate Beyonce (may she rest in peace), I am also named after Pixie Lott, a singer that my mum likes very much. I enjoy porridge, mealworms, earthworms and being prepared for a show.
I am very proud of my eggs. Bantam eggs are smallish, but mine are the very best, since they win many prizes for Best Contents at my shows, and I even won a trophy for Best Contents in the WHOLE show! It was a Championship show too!
Though many show birds are mainly for showing, I and my roommates are pets also. The best part of showing is the preperation. A nice warm bath and shampooing in the sink, then a warm blow-dry and Vaseline on my red bits and legs. It's so relaxing. Hope I make lots of new friends here at Cuteness!

mr. egg
Chicken
Male

hi! my name is mr. egg :) i was put in an incubator on the 8/september/2010 and hatched on the 3rd october 2010

i am a mix between a common laying hybrid and jerry the rooster (no1 knows what breed he is, mums cousin begged her to take him home with her when he was a chick, you can see that he's one of my roomies if ya wanna take a peek )
i was chosen at random from a batch of eggs, round ones, long ones, short ones, fat ones and white ones. i was just perfect, no spots, no cracks and no lumps or bumps :) my mum needed me because one of her hens (lulu, her favourite) had been ill and almost died, but when she was healthy again the flock would no longer accept her, so she was alone in a hutch all by herself for months on end.....
i was supposed to be lulus new friend but sadly the night before we were supposed to be introduced it dropped to -5 degrees and she didnt make it... so now im living all on my own :( but maybe someday i can take my dads place and be head of the flock! :)

but for now im the cutest, funniest and friendliest cockeral mum has ever seen! :D

you can watch me grow from a day old chick to a big old chicken :)

feel free to check out my video's on youtube :)
