I was not so sure about adopting Jiggs, as he was older than some of the other dogs. Jiggs is almost 10. His foster family had a tumor removed from his left ear. Jiggs has a cataract and also pretty bad allergies. I was nervous at first about meeting him, as I was not so sure about how to take care of a dog with special needs. Jiggs gets pretty excited when he goes for walks and can have a hilarious case of 'attention deficit disorder' from all of the activity. When I first met him at the foster home, he was interested in me but I think he was more interested in the fact that there was excitement going on! I took him outside for a little walk to see how we got along. I liked Jiggs, but was still not convinced that he should go home with me. My parents were with me and we decided to sit in the car to talk about him. He sat right on my lap. My mom all of a sudden proclaimed, "Lord, If Amanda is supposed to adopt Jiggs, have him give her a kiss!" He turned right around and gave me a big lick on the cheek. THAT WAS IT! He came home with me that day. Jiggs' coat was thinned from his scratching and he had small scabs on his chest. I knew of a good dermatology vet specialist in Chicago and made an appointment for him right away. We have his allergies almost under control now and he looks SO MUCH BETTER! (You can tell from his handsome photos!) People always think that he is a puppy, because he has such a cute, young face. He also is very playful. He makes me laugh so hard when he gets his paws on a soccer or basketball. He can almost walk on the ball! He also does fun flips in the air to try and get at the ball if I hold it up in the air. He is the BEST tug-of-war player. Jiggs is the most well behaved dog. He never chews on anything and he listens to me when I call him. He likes to cuddle on the couch with me and he loves to go for walks. He has become the pride and joy of my life. Jiggs needed a good home and he was just what I needed. I am thankful to MWBTR (Midwest Boston Terrier Rescue) for encouraging me to think outside the box and take a chance on Jiggs. He is the best fit for me and I look forward to all of our happy times together.
