Not sure how old Merlin really is, i got him from school. I go to vet tech school and he had been in quarantine almost a year to the month i started. He had had a nasty staph infection that they just couldn't get rid of. Now he is a nice healthy cat with a loving home (my home). He is my miracle cat, marked for euthanasia at the the shelter, the school gave him a second chance and i'm so very glad they did
I'm a high-falutin', gregarious, totally un-catlike cat. When I'm not playing with my toys, I'm crying for breakfast (which occurs at un-breakfastly times of the day), getting into trouble, or sleeping in boxes (I LOOOOOVE boxes).
I recently just lost my sister to lung cancer, which is a shame because she was only 7, like me. I was very sad to lose her and am trying to take solace in my people and my new puppy sister (who still likes to pounce a little too much for my comfort).
I am very outgoing. As you can see from my pictures, I particularly like going for walks with a harness and a leash (only when it is relatively dry and not raining or snowing). I do very well at places like Petsmart, where people are always surprised to see how well I behave. I like to go outside so much that I used to cry at the front door a lot, but I realize now that Mom and Dad can't take me out 24/7 and they love me too much to let me be an outside cat.
In conjunction with going for walks, I will also wear clothes. I look pretty snazzy in them, if you ask me. I think I'm a very, very attractive beast and any lady who doesn't agree must be a dog.
I love the laser toy, but boxes are where my heart lies. I like it especially when daddy throws my squeakie toys into the boxes and I have to hunt them out-- I'm a very, very good hunter and I always retrieve my prey!
When I was a baby, I had ringworm on my ears. My sister did, too-- we were barn cats. As barncat life goes, we were the first litter of kittens born as inbreds- don't laugh, it happens- but it explains a lot. I had surgery a year or so ago to remove five of my teeth because my enamel had not developed properly. As a result, I'm not fond of crunchy food. I also have bladder problems. My nice doctor thinks that my bladder is inflamed a lot which is why I would sometimes get bladder infections. I am lucky that Mom and Dad notice when I act funny-- I have no other way to let them know I feel icky-- and that they take me right into the doctor. Because of that, I've only had one minor Urinary Tract Infection and it went away pretty fast. They now have me on a special diet that is especially stinky (MMMM) but it's supposed to help my urinary tract be healthy. The food is made by Royal Canin and I am glad I eat it. If I hadn't been put on this food, I would not have met my nice doctors at the animal clinic I visit. They are nice there.
I am unique and not very cat-like sometimes. I love to cuddle, but I am so relaxed and laid back. I let Mom and Dad do whatever they want with me because I trust them implicitly. I often roll over on my back to let them rub my belly, but my favorite thing is when they scoop me up and hold me upside down in their arms. They love to do that, which is a bonus for me. I am also glad Mom refused to declaw me- I don't know what I'd do without those nice, long stretches and being able to claw my cat trees. Yah- that's plural- Mom and Dad had bought us a new tree (for my sister and me) but they were awesome enough to find a place in the apartment to keep our old one, too!
Hello everyone. My name is Merlin, and I was adopted when I was a little kid. When mom chose me, I was able to lay in a ball on her hands. The adoption center said I probably wouldn't get much bigger...so much for that. I'm mom's big boy now. It may not look like it in my pictures, but I'm actually very muscular and am a very big kitty. That's why my nickname is Burly. I have a very meek meow...sometimes the other cats make fun of me for it. Mom says I was probably just neutered too soon, so I don't have enough testosterone. But she loves me all the same. People call me emo. Mom thinks it only makes me cuter :) There aren't a whole lot of pictures of me on here. Not yet anyway. I'm camera shy, so it's hard for mom to get a good picture of me. Being an all black cat, I don't always show up in pictures. I usually just look like a black box or a big handbag or something.
Um...oh, I love deli meats. In particular, I love turkey. That's always been my favorite.
Syd and Yuki are my best friends...even if they may be a bit more crazy than me.
Merlin is our newest member of our family. He is Samhain's son. He was the runt of the litter but turned out to be huge. He is one big cuddlebug. He loves to be held and patted as you walk around with him like a baby. There were 4 kittens in all of Samhain's litter all black except for Merlin who has a little white tuft on his chest. He is the most adorable kitten. The vet couldn't believe his size when brought in to be neutered. He's very big for his age and it's easy to forget he's just 7 months old. He too gets along well with all his roommates. We truly are blessed to have these animals in our lives.
