Maine Coon

Shakespeare is the Queen of our home or at least she thinks she is. She expects to be treated as such anyway. She likes when she gets her own way, but when she doesn't she lets you know it. Now when she really wants something she will play on her cuteness to the full, even go so far as her own way of course....LOL

American Shorthair

Here is a little more about me...
I am a stray....strike that...I USED TO BE a stray.
Sometimes I would get in fights with other neighborhood cats just trying to get my fair share of birds and mice so I didn't starve to death. I have the battle scars on my face to prove it is a tough world out there when you are a stray.

I started coming to Miss Robin's yard but I never came too near the house; I stayed far off.
Miss Robin noticed me and started putting out fresh water every day when the temperatures got so hot back in June - I started to come up to her car port for a drink and then she noticed how skinny I was, so she started putting food out for me.

I was glad to know that I would get at least 2 meals a day without having to fight for it.
I have gained a little bit of weight (you can't see my ribs and hip bones any more).

I will not let just anyone near me, not to mention touch me or pet me; I am too wild.
But I sure do appreciate the fresh water and 2 free meals each day that I am sure to find at Miss Robin's house.
In the Summer I would lay in the shade under the car-port to get out of the hot sun. And now that the weather is getting cooler at night Miss Robin has put an old blanket outside for me. I sure do appreciate that.
Even though she realizes that I will probably never become tame enough to be a house pet, she loves me anyway. She cannot stand the thought of me going hungry, being thirsty, or having no place to get shelter from the weather - so she will continue to put out food and fresh water every day, and she has provided me with a cubby-hole and an old blanket for when it is cold. That is her way of telling me I am not alone in this world and at least 1 person cares about me.
UPDATE: I let Miss Robin pet me on the top of my head for the 1st time today!!
It was not so bad - I kind of liked it :-)
I think I am going to start calling her "Mom" like the rest of my room-mates.
Dec. 15th, 2011 should be recorded in the History books. Mom was so happy you would think the event should make the National News :-)
"Stray Cat"
by Franic Witham

Oh, what unhappy twist of fate
Has brought you, homeless to my gate?
The gate where once another stood
To beg for shelter, warmth and food.

For from that day I ceased to be
The master of my destiny.
While he, with purr and velvet paw
Became within my house, The Law.

He scratched the furniture and shed
And claimed the middle of my bed.
He ruled in arrogance and pride
And broke my heart the day he died.

So if you really think, oh cat,
I'd willingly re-live all that
Because you come, forlorn and thin
Well...don't just stand there...come on in!
