Confused Golden Retriever Gives Birth To Litter Of Baby Cow Puppies

Ah, the miracle of birth. It's a beautiful thing, but sometimes, it's also a very confusing thing. That was the case for Rosie, a Golden Retriever mix who was taken in by longtime dog foster parents Karen and John Black as she neared her due date.

The Blacks have fostered more than 20 dogs, so you'd think they would have seen it all by now. But, no, Rosie managed to surprise them (and, no doubt, herself too). The couple took Rosie in from Neuse River Golden Retriever Rescue and was shocked when the litter of pups she gave birth to looked literally nothing like her.

In fact, the black and white puppies looked more like baby cows than baby dogs.

"Not quite what we were expecting. Our foster dog and Golden mix gave birth yesterday. To baby cows," Katie wrote on Reddit, alongside a picture of Rosie and her brood.

Of course, no matter what they look like, the puppies are still Rosie's babies and she's been a totally stellar and proud mama to them all.

The Blacks gave the puppies some very appropriate, cow-inspired names: Daisy, Betsy, Clarabelle, and Moo.
