LED Dog Harness: A Dog Trainer's Review Of The Noxgear LightHound

I love spending time outside with my dog at all times of day. One of the challenges of having a black dog is trying to find ways to keep us visible early in the morning and late in the evening when we go out walking. In an effort to increase our visibility, I have tried a variety of different light-up collars and harnesses with little to no success as the light would inevitably get buried in my Newfoundland's long fur. That all changed when I purchased the Noxgear LightHound Multicolor LED Reflective Dog Harness on Amazon.

Although there are many LED collars and harnesses on the market, I struggled to keep my large, black, long-haired dog visible on our walks. What first drew me to the LightHound harness was the high-quality, high-visibility design, the multicolor light-up options, and that it was USB rechargeable.

Although the features sounded promising, I was skeptical about spending $60 on yet another light-up product for my dog. Thankfully, when the harness arrived at my doorstep, I was pleasantly surprised by how well it worked. With my dog wearing the LightHound harness, I have never once felt like we weren't visible, whether we were on a city street or out in nature. The multiple color options have also given me an extra festive way to dress my dog up around specific holidays or when attending dog-friendly events.

The LightHound harness is unique because it features 360-degree illumination. The harness is high-visibility yellow (so it's easy to spot during the daytime, too) and the light strips are mounted onto 3M Scotchlite reflector strips. The dog vest has eight solid color modes: Red, yellow, magenta, purple, blue, pink, and green. There are also six multicolor flashing and slow-fading color modes, including Rainbow and Disco Dog. Both the solid light and flashing light options are visible from half a mile away.

The harness has a rechargeable lithium battery that runs for up to 12 hours. Recharging it is quick and easy thanks to the included micro USB cable—just be sure to keep the charging port sealed when you're not actively charging the vest to protect it from moisture.

The Noxgear LightHound dog harness is available in small, medium, large, and extra-large sizes, making it comfortable for a wide range of dog breeds and sizes (hey, it even fits my giant breed!). Before placing an order, take a look at the size chart on the seventh product photo and consider using a soft tape measure to get your dog's exact chest girth. The harness is adjustable at the neck and chest to provide the most comfortable fit possible without chafing or rubbing while your dog is wearing it.

The LED harness is lightweight, water-resistant, and even machine-washable. It's easy to put on and take off and comes with a built-in D-ring leash attachment. However, as a dog trainer and guardian of a strong, giant breed dog, I would not feel comfortable walking my dog with a leash attached to this harness. Instead, I recommend that dogs wear this light-up harness in addition to their regular harness or collar—whatever you typically attach your dog's leash to.

Anytime my dog is wearing the Noxgear LightHound Multicolor LED Reflective Dog Harness, I get questions from other dog owners about where I got it. I always tell them about how it outshines any other light-up collar or harness that I've tried in terms of the brightness and color options. Now, those early-morning walks and after-dark strolls feel much safer!
