Dachshund Puppies Raised By 'Banned' American Bulldog Are The Cutest Found Family

Many people know what it's like to be pestered by a younger sibling. The resulting emotion is a mix of annoyance, tolerance, patience, and love. An XL bully dog (an American bulldog bred to be larger) named Gunner is also familiar with that specific feeling, as evidenced by a TikTok video that's been viewed more than 85,000 times. In the sweet video, Gunner interacts with his two cute little dachshund siblings, showing extreme patience when the wiener dogs nibble on his ears and legs, steal his toys, and chew his favorite bone. His stoic gaze at the camera speaks volumes about his personality. All of the doggos look especially cute when curled up together at naptime, sleeping contentedly.

Comments on the TikTok video seemed unanimous in praising Gunner, calling him gentle, beautiful, and a sweetheart. One person wrote, "He gives grandpa vibes." Another commented, "Aww, what a gentle, loving soul. He is beautiful, and your sausage dogs are so lucky to have him. Your dogs are all gorgeous xxx." Yet, if some individuals had their way, this found family would not exist, all because of Gunner's breed.

The rules regarding bully breeds

Gunner lives in London, where strict rules are on the books regarding certain types of dogs. The animal welfare section of the United Kingdom's website states that "it's a criminal offence to own or possess an XL Bully dog in England and Wales unless you have a valid Certificate of Exemption." Even with this certificate, the dog in question must be microchipped, neutered or spayed, and kept on a leash and muzzled whenever in public. Each year, the dog's owner must also purchase liability insurance for the animal.

Gunner's owner posts frequently on social media about the stigma surrounding these dogs, even creating and selling a plush toy of Gunner with "Don't Bully My Breed" stitched on one foot. Certainly, there's much you need to know before adopting a bully breed of dog such as a pit bull or a Cane Corso, but these animals can make wonderful pets, as evidenced by Gunner's placid behavior.

Viewers of the TikTok video all seemed to agree that banning specific breeds isn't the solution to ridding society of violent dogs. One person commented, "Beautiful boy. In the right hands, they are lovely dogs. They are not born vicious, they are trained to be aggressive by some human owners, how sad is that!! It's a shame the owners don't get punished rather than the dogs." Another wrote, "He's really made me rethink my attitude to XL bullies." Perhaps Gunner's gentle behavior toward his rambunctious dachshund siblings will also cause a shift in government attitudes.
