Pug Puppy Meeting Older Sibling For The First Time Turns Into Adorable Chaos

Bringing home a new puppy when you already have a dog can be overwhelming. Thanks to one adorable TikTok video, there's a bit more insight for those of us wondering when you can introduce a puppy to other dogs. The clip stars two incredibly cute pug siblings during their very first meeting, and it's hard not to smile watching these two get adjusted.

In the video, an older tan pug greets its dad at the front door as he holds a tiny black pug pup wrapped in a checkered blanket. The moment these two pugs lock eyes seems to be confusion at first sight, as they sniff each other's faces. The pup and its sibling stumble around each other for the rest of the video; the tiny puppy even hides under the couch at one point.

Viewers seemed to be divided on whether these dogs will be friends, with one saying the two are "besties from the start." Another joked that the older pug thought, "Who is this guy?!" about the new puppy.

Will these new pug siblings become fast friends?

No doubt these two pugs are cute as can be, and their chaotic first meeting is, too. But can they grow to have a lovable bond? Possibly! Though there may be a rocky start, most dogs will warm up to new siblings if you prepare well and give them plenty of time to adjust. For example, it can help to monitor your dogs' time together at first before allowing them to go unsupervised.

Dog trainer Kathy Santo also shared her cautions about introducing two dogs in an article with the American Kennel Club: "It's often more than twice as difficult for one person to train two young dogs at the same time." So, making sure your current dog is trained and a bit older can help, too. This can be especially true if you plan for your second dog to be a puppy. There are all sorts of mistakes everyone makes with new puppies that might be harder to avoid if you have a second dog, like a lack of structure or not socializing your pup enough. However, if you do your due diligence to get another dog — as the pug parent seemed to do in the video — the payoff could be wonderful.
