Dachshund Hilariously Spins Into Tornado Mode After Catching Own Tail
You've likely heard the expression "to chase one's own tail," meaning to spend much time trying to achieve something and not really getting anywhere, along with the idiom "the dog that caught the car," referring to someone who achieves a long-pursued goal but doesn't have a clue what to do next. If you put these two sentiments together, what do you get? Probably something that looks a bit like the endlessly spinning dachshund in a TikTok video that's been viewed more than 1.3 million times.

While grasping its tail firmly in its mouth, the wiener dog spins and spins and spins — making eye contact with the videographer after every turn. The pup eventually ends up in a dog bed but still stubbornly refuses to let go of its tail. Viewers couldn't get enough of the adorable little doxie and its fancy footwork. "The energy, the footwork, the passion," one viewer commented. Another exclaimed, "He needs to apply for ["Dancing with the Stars"] at this point!" One person joked, "This is actually very dangerous [because] this is how tornadoes are created."
Just how stubborn are dachshunds?
Sausage dogs may be small in stature, but they're big in personality. They're considered one of the most stubborn dogs, constantly pushing boundaries and boldly doing whatever they please. They were originally bred for the dangerous job of hunting badgers, so they had to be courageous, persistent, and able to act independently in order to succeed at their task — and to survive facing off against such a fierce carnivore with strong jaws and sharp claws.
These intelligent, strong-willed dogs are prone to small dog syndrome, which can make them exhibit troubling behaviors such as barking constantly, jumping on people, acting aggressively and territorially, ignoring commands, and constantly demanding attention. Despite all of these potential drawbacks, dachshunds can make great family pets, as long as they receive proper training and are shown much love and attention. Confidence and loyalty are some of the other dominant personality traits of dachshunds.
