Golden Retriever Listens To Dad Read Parenting Book And It's Beyond Wholesome
Golden retrievers are considered big, lovable babies because of their sweet clinginess and puppy-like behavior, even as adults. They're one of the smartest dog breeds in the world and also one of the dog breeds with the best temperament, and these personality traits are evident in a viral TikTok video that's been viewed more than 1 million times and racked up more than 180,000 likes. "Nothing relieves pregnancy stress like watching your husband read his parenting book with your dog at bedtime" is written overtop of the video, which is captioned, "I think we'll be just fine."

The dog stares intently at the father-to-be reading aloud about pregnancy topics such as cravings (including hamburger with condensed milk!) and body changes. "The way doggo sat forward when cravings and hamburgers were mentioned ... like hmmm what was that?" one viewer wrote. Another admitted, "This made me cry. The dog so invested. I cannot." Several people observed that the adorable pooch will make a wonderful sibling to the new baby. One commented, "The dog is supervising and learning at the same time." How sweet!
How would these pregnancy craving examples fare for a dog?
Many dog owners struggle with how much people food — if any — pets should be allowed to consume, pregnancy cravings or otherwise. In this case, dogs probably shouldn't consume condensed milk, as it's high in sugar. But what about the other example? Can dogs eat ground beef? Luckily, hamburger meat is a good source of protein, and it's perfectly safe and healthy for dogs to chow down on. Be sure to choose lean ground beef instead of the high-fat version, and cook it thoroughly. Serving the ground beef raw could make your dog ill because of nasty bacteria such as Salmonella, E. coli, and Listeria or parasites like tapeworms and roundworms.
While it's true that some pet owners swear by feeding only raw meat to their dogs, the American Veterinary Medical Association (AVMA) doesn't recommend such a diet. The AVMA argues that uncooked meat can sicken both the animals that eat it and the people who prepare it. Though it's unclear whether the golden retriever in the TikTok video will be fed any hamburger (with or without condensed milk) in the future, it's crystal clear that the sweet big furry baby will be an attentive sibling to the new little baby.
