Mini Bernedoodle Puppy's Glow-Up After First Haircut Is Turning Heads
What a difference a trip to the groomer can make. A TikTok video that's been viewed more than 213,000 times shows a mini Bernedoodle both before and after being trimmed, and the difference is startling. The video is captioned, "First haircut! I have an entire new dog 🥹🤭." One viewer joked, "Hey, I think you picked up the wrong dog."
@rachelmadl First haircut! I have an entire new dog🥹🤭 #bernadoodle #minibernedoodle #puppytiktok #doghaircut #dogtok
Although viewers of the video tended to agree that both the shaggy and trimmed versions of the darling doggo look pretty darned cute, most people seemed to favor his more carefully coiffed look, especially since the haircut reveals the animal's precious peepers. "Look at those eyes just pop!!!" one person wrote. Another commented, "Cutest thing ever🐾💕🥹."
Mini Bernedoodles are just one of the many types of doodle dogs, and grooming a poodle mix must be done regularly, just like with poodles, because the fur doesn't shed much and grows so quickly that it can easily become matted. One viewer noted, "Doodles are such great dogs, but the grooming costs are $$$$."
Why is grooming so important?
It's a mistake to think that grooming a dog is simply about esthetics. Regular brushing can stop painful mats from ever forming — or at least catch them when they're small — and can help to find parasites, rashes, or skin infections early. Brushing removes loose fur and dirt and helps to distribute the skin's natural oils, making the dog's coat look shiny and feel soft. Long nails can become painful for a dog, so trimming them regularly is definitely a must. Some dogs also need to have their ears cleaned occasionally, to remove dirt, bacteria, and yeast, all of which can cause problems.
Grooming your dog yourself can be a wonderful bonding experience for the two of you. If you choose to go with a professional, it's vital to find the right groomer for your dog's needs. Don't hesitate to interview several groomers, asking questions about licensing and certifications, before choosing the one that feels like the best match. After all, you want people's reactions to be similar to this one about the sweet little Bernedoodle: "Now that's one serious glow up! Love it! Adorable as can be."
