This Rare Chow Chow-German Shepherd Mix's Unique Sneezes Are Too Cute For Words
Canine quirks can be quite cute, and sometimes a bit strange. Like when a dog brings his food to the carpet when his bowl is in the other room (apparently, it has a lot to do with their ancestral instincts). However, one especially adorable oddity is the many funny ways a dog sneezes, and Dottie's is no exception. Dottie is a fascinating mix of chow chow and German shepherd, and thanks to a now viral TikTok, she's got us all saying, "Gesundheit!"
@ohmydottie had to get that out of her system
The TikToker notes that Dottie "has a bad case of the sneezes," and after watching this 14-second clip, you might call that an understatement. That's because little Dottie's sneezes are all-encompassing. Each sneeze — and there are several — causes this chow-shepherd's floppy ears to flounce, wispy fur to wiggle, and whole body to rock. She even blinks involuntarily every time!
Viewers seemed to think it's Dottie's unique look that makes her sneezing such a spectacle, and they may be right. In fact, one commenter seemed to truly capture everyone's sentiments, calling Dottie "the cutest Muppet." It's true, Dottie's little Muppet face and scraggly fur absolutely make for the cutest little sneezes we ever did see!
Why does Dottie sneeze so much?
Full-body sneezes are definitely one of the funniest dog behaviors. But did you know dogs like Dottie sneeze for more than just allergies? It's true. Your dog sneezing could be a reaction to it inhaling some sort of allergen or irritant like perfume or dust in the air. However, a few "a-choos" might also be a sign your pup is having a good time. It's called "play sneezing," and canines do it during play time to both communicate with their playmates and express excitement.
Based on the video, it's quite possible Dottie inhaled something her nose didn't agree with. But is there any need to worry? Well, generally it's important to pay attention to other symptoms when your dog sneezes, like if your little guy has a frequently runny nose, or tends to itch a lot; all signs you might need to head to the vet. If your fido's simply sneezing, like Dottie, some basic home remedies for dog sneezing might do the trick, like echinacea for dogs, or a humidifier for your home.
