Tiny Shar Pei Mix Puppy Is 'So Sleepy' He Lies Down Right Outside Of His Bed

If you've ever witnessed dogs who are ready for bed, you know they always show the most adorable signs (don't even get us started on cute puppy yawns!). But what happens if your drowsy fido is so sleepy that it doesn't quite make it to bed? Well, one incredibly sweet TikTok video so perfectly answers that question, and it features the cutest tiny shar-pei puppy mix.

He's called Moose the Mini Hippo because, well, he really does look like one furry hippo. But Moose is actually a cocker spaniel and shar-pei mix who cannot seem to stay awake. In the adorable clip, Moose tries to keep his eyes open but can't help dozing off; right next to his actual bed! Unfortunately, Moose absolutely fails, and it's the cutest thing ever. One viewer summed up most of the sentiment in the comment section: "Oh my he is so adorable!! I would kiss that face." What a cute little sleepyhead.

Why is Moose so sleepy?

A casual scroll through Moose's TikTok will show you that this little guy is in the running to be one of the sleepiest puppies to ever take a nap. In fact, napping is perhaps his favorite thing to do! But why does baby Moose spend so much time in sleepytown? Well, the answer might be in the fact that he's a baby, after all. Puppies can sleep up to 20 hours a day, and for very good reason.

Sleep is a major part of a puppy's early development and growth, and the younger they are, the more they need. From birth to six months, many amazing things happen when a puppy sleeps. These can include muscle building, cognitive development, and the release of growth hormones to help your doggo grow nice and strong.

Now, it's also true that some dog breeds can be bigger sleepers than others, which means your pup growing out of the puppy stage doesn't necessarily mean it abandons a good naptime. Shar-peis are known to be pretty low-energy canines, so relaxing (and napping) can be a big part of their day-to-day. So don't worry, Moose is doing his job very well, just like these puppers in the comfiest puppy piles ever. Happy sleeping!
