Maine Coon Cat Stretched Out On Its Back Has The Most Tempting Fluffy Belly
A tasty meal, an entertaining movie, a comfy bed. All of these things are enticing, to be sure, but one thing tempts cat owners more than anything else: fuzzy kitty tummies — and the fluffier, the better. In a TikTok video that's been viewed more than 533,000 times and racked up over 45,000 likes, a fluffy Maine coon stretches out on its back on a chair, with its head and front paws dangling in space, leaving an expanse of gloriously fuzzy belly on display while it relaxes.

"How tempting to rub that belly!! 😍😆 which they either love it or hate it 🤣💛," one viewer wrote. Another confessed, "My face would be in that belly quicker than you could blink 😂." Several viewers commented on how the Zen-looking cat seemed to be doing a yoga pose, with one joking, "God forbid a cat gets its yoga in without being filmed." One person also made a point of complimenting the kitty's cute toes on display: "Look at those lovely beans gorgeous."
Why are cat stretches so impressive?
Cats, being the adorable weirdos that they are, can stretch in odd ways that would be painful or downright impossible for humans. Their elastic spines, tiny collarbones, and 53 vertebrae (compared to 33 for humans) give them incredible flexibility. Muscles, not bones, attach their shoulder blades to their bodies, which improves their flexibility even more and gives them the ability to lengthen their bodies dramatically while stretching.
A cat lying on its back and stretching indicates that the animal is feeling safe, secure, trusting, and content. A cat may roll onto its back to say a happy "hello" to you, or signal that it feels comfortable with you, or try to get your attention to start playtime. However, this "tummy trap" shouldn't be viewed as an invitation to rub the cat's belly, no matter how appealing the floof may appear. A cat's vital organs are vulnerable when its belly is exposed, and if you innocently rub that belly, you may discover that the cat suddenly uses all of its teeth and claws to protect itself.
One viewer of the TikTok channeled the cat's thoughts: "Don't disturb please 😒." Another commented, "Hahahahahaha relaxing so much and living the best life 😹."
