Dachshund Puppy Just Can't Get The Hang Of His New Boots & It's Too Good

Breaking in new footwear can be challenging. For a sweet little dachshund named Alfy, the mere act of wearing footwear is apparently a struggle. In a TikTok video captioned "still haven't quite gotten the hang of these things," the precious pooch hops along in his winter booties in the most awkwardly endearing way, causing many viewers to think of bouncy animals such as baby goats and rabbits.

"Wait, when did that bunny turn into a dog? 🤗 🤣" one joked. Another gushed, "I just fell right in love with this little jumping bean 🫘." One person channeled Alfy's thoughts, writing, "These are my bouncing boots. See how high I go?"

A previous TikTok video of Alfy hopping around in booties elicited comparisons to leprechauns, reindeer, and kangaroos. All of the viewers of both videos seemed to agree that the darling doxie looks utterly adorable whenever he puts on his teeny-tiny booties. "So stinking adorable 🥰," one fan commented.

Do dogs need footwear?

One viewer described her dramatic doggo's behavior whenever forced to wear booties, writing that "She walks like she has broken feet or legs or whatever and she falls down and she pretends that her legs don't work and she lifts her legs up in the air." Given that melodramatic dogs like this one — along with Alfy and many other pooches — prefer to leave their paws bare, should owners ever force their pets to don footwear?

Booties are an essential component of protecting your dog against cold weather. In addition to keeping your pet's paws warm, dry, and clean, winter booties can protect paws from sharp ice, road salt, and chemical deicers. In warm weather, booties can shield paws from hot asphalt, thorns, ticks, toxic plants, and allergens. Booties of all sizes are readily available in pet stores, or if you prefer DIY, you can crochet puppy booties yourself.
