Adorably Clumsy Bulldog Puppy Is Determined To Nail Shaking And We're So Proud
Puppy power just might be underrated. Think about it. These little cuties have to adapt to their surroundings, learn new rules, and get used to new stimuli all the time. That's a lot of work, and nothing proves this point better than an incredibly viral TikTok video. In it, a super-determined bulldog puppy makes the clumsiest attempts to nail "shake," and we love her determination!
@raquel41033 The cutest little potato! 🥔🥔🥔#Mabel #dogsoftiktok #englishbulldog #fyp #tiktokpets
Her name's Mabel, and her clumsy attempt to shake has been witnessed nearly 500,000 times. That's probably because baby Mabel's balance (or lack thereof) has to be seen to be believed. As she raises her paw for a shake, her entire body wobbles and eventually topples over. After falling, Mabel lies there for just a moment as if to gear herself up again.
She doesn't pop up again until her dog mom asks her if she's eaten all her dinner off camera. So, perhaps after all this work, it's time for a snack break. Speaking of snacks, this roly-poly bully's nickname is "little potato," which makes perfect sense — she fits right in with these other dogs who look like little potatoes, perfectly. Maybe that's why she couldn't keep her balance!
Are some dogs clumsier than others?
Mabel might be clumsy, but she's also committed. We're banking on her nailing that handshake soon enough. Plus, it's normal for puppies to struggle with coordination a bit as they learn to move through the world. But are bulldogs like Mabel clumsier than more athletic or active dog breeds? First, let's return to the "potato," as Mabel was so perfectly nicknamed.
A bulldog's stocky legs and stubby, round frame may make moving around slightly more difficult than it'd be for, say, an Afghan Hound, known for long legs and strides. Bulldogs are of the non-sporting group of dogs, which means that though they require some exercise, these guys typically make the best couch potatoes.
Of the top breeds in the United States Dog Agility Association list, bulldogs are nowhere to be found. Many of the fidos on this list are members of one of the seven dog groups known for their very active nature, like the herding group (see: border collies), and the sporting group, like Labrador retrievers. It's very possible that a dog's disposition for agility could affect their aforementioned clumsiness. That said, Mabel seems to be on her way to shaking (and running around) in no time at all.
