Golden Retriever Who Left Stuffed Lamb Out In The Rain Has The Internet In Tears
It's not unusual for a dog to be obsessed with a specific toy, carrying it everywhere, cuddling with it, and acting bereft whenever the toy gets left behind or misplaced. Take, for example, Kevin the golden retriever. In a sweet TikTok video that's been viewed more than 2.1 million times and racked up over 277,000 likes, the golden looks absolutely devastated that his Lamb Chop plush toy has been left outside in the pouring rain. He gazes up at his owner, the sadness practically radiating off him.

The people of the internet clearly understood the depth of Kevin's grief. "I need to know that he was reunited with Lambee the lamb chop. I have a golden and those eyes get me every time," wrote one viewer, while another confessed, "This is going to haunt me for the rest of my life. Please save Lambchop. 😭😭" One person asked, "Where is the rescue team??" and another urged, "Call 911." One netizen channeled Kevin's thoughts, cheekily writing, "Soooo you just gonna stand there and keep recording or you gonna go get it?" Luckily, a later video showed that Lamb Chop was safely retrieved.
Why do dogs like stuffed animals so much?
It's difficult to think of many things cuter than dogs with their absolute favorite toys. Why, exactly, do dogs love their stuffies so much? Toys help dogs keep boredom at bay, providing stimulation both mentally and physically. Soft toys are good for snuggling and providing comfort, and puppies enjoy chewing on stuffies while teething. A female dog might display maternal instincts toward a toy and try to mother it. Some dogs — especially working dogs without any work — may destroy toys as a way to let out pent-up energy or frustration.
When you're trying to find out what kinds of toys your dog loves, it's useful to test a few different ones. Many dogs, though, seem to like Lamb Chop as much as Kevin does. "What IS [it] about Lamb Chop? All three of our dogs are obsessed with these toys! 🐑🥩" one netizen wrote, and another commented, "Lamb Chop has a four and 1/2 minute life span in this house ....poor lamby."
Of course, there comes a point in the life of any much-loved stuffie when a pet owner has to decide if it's time to throw their dog's favorite toy away. Making that decision is easier when duplicates of the toy are on hand. "First rule is to have multiple Lambchops. My Aussie has 3 that size and 2 mini ones," one person wrote, and then explained further, "Makes life easier when they have to be washed. No more sad pup because Lambchop is in the washer."
