In a moving video that's been viewed more than 179,000 times on TikTok, the gentle giant makes tentative steps toward trusting humans again after being abandoned outside in the cold and snow weeks before. Her patient new owner gives her food, loving attention, and gentle chin scritches while sitting outside on the porch with her, allowing Teddy the space she needs to gradually become more comfortable.

Netizens offered up a steady stream of encouragement and praise. Teddy's journey from abandonment to beloved pet
Many viewers of the TikTok video had harsh words for whoever abandoned the sweet doggo, leaving comments like "What kind of person does that!" and "Who on this planet would let this dog walk and not miss him/her." But Teddy's new owner truly is a compassionate soul. She responded with empathy, writing, "I think the previous owners were struggling and made a bad judgment call. Initially I was upset as they could have called the dog shelter, but I'm now thankful [s]he is here decompressing on [her] own terms and not in an already overcrowded, loud environment ❤️."
