National Dog Day 2026: Free Goodies You Can Snag To Spoil Your Pup With

It's the day that pampered pooches and coddled canines eagerly await all year long: National Dog Day. On August 26 each year, restaurants and retailers across the country honor very good girls and very good boys by giving away an array of tasty treats and swish swag. We've compiled a handy list to help you track down freebies for your darling doggo.

Certain Chick-fil-A locations are offering free treats and goodie bags for National Dog Day, so check with your local franchise to find out what's on offer. Some Dunkin' locations are also giving away limited-edition bandanas and plush toys from the Dunkin' x Bark Collection, and the Dunkin' in Quincy, Massachusetts, is offering a special doggie drive-thru experience on August 26. 

Bruster's Real Ice Cream always offers free doggie sundaes (a scoop of vanilla ice cream topped with a dog treat) for customers' pooch pals. Stop by Starbucks to grab a free Puppuccino for your pupper — many dogs are obsessed with these whipped-cream treats (such as this maltipoo who howls for a pup cup even though he just had one, and this Bernese Mountain dog who is totally different before and after getting his pup cup).

Starting at 5 a.m. on August 26 and continuing until supplies run out, Dutch Bros Coffee is giving away a dog bandana with each purchase of a medium or large drink — there are three different bandana styles in total. Scoot over to Scooter's Coffee to pick up a special autumn-inspired pup cup made from whipped cream, a dog treat, and a dash of cinnamon (unlike these five spices you should keep far away from your dog, cinnamon is safe for pups in small amounts). Some HTeaO locations are offering a free pup cup for each dog who visits the drive-through on National Dog Day. Until the end of August, Chill-N Nitrogen Ice Cream is offering every dog a free pup cup made from coconut milk, peanut butter, and just a smidgen of honey.

Of course, any day of the year is the right time to help keep your canine companion safe. FidoAlert offers free pet IDs and tags to help lost dogs and cats get reunited with their owners as quickly as possible, and the ASPCA offers free pet safety packs, which include pet-rescue stickers to go on doors and windows, along with a magnet displaying the toll-free number for animal poison control.
