Golden Retriever's Big Guard Dog Moment Goes Off The Rails When He Has Something Else In Mind
Some dogs are big and tough, viciously snarling at strangers, ready to risk life and limb to guard their home or take down a criminal. And then there's Nash. When the 4-year-old golden retriever finally got his big chance to play the hero, he blew it in the most adorable way possible. A video captured via a Ring camera — which has since gone viral — showed Nash wagging his tail at a home intruder and repeatedly offering the man one of his dog toys. Then, when the police showed up to catch the criminal, Nash tried to give the officers a toy, too.
Viewers were delighted by Nash's hospitable behavior. "Wait— Is Nash presenting a TOY to the burglar? Is he bearing gifts?!?? I CANNOT!!!!! 😂😂😂" commented one person, and another declared, "Yes, but he's the best boy 😂." A netizen tried to channel Nash's thoughts during the incident, writing, "Dog: 'Will SOMEONE play with me? ANYONE???' 😂😂😂😂"
Nash's owner, Dante Rowley, explained in a comment on the Instagram post that the dog was unharmed and seemed unperturbed by the whole escapade. Rowley and his fiancée watched the incident unfold while flying home from Chicago to San Diego. Rowley explained, "I was texting the police officer because I had Wi-Fi on the flight. I gave them access to my ring app so they could see what he was doing inside."
Nash just wanted someone to play with him
The story of the world's worst guard dog was featured on the CBS Evening News, which concluded the segment by stating, "Nash is apparently 100% purebred best buddy and 0% guard dog." Perhaps it should come as no surprise that Nash is a lover, not a fighter, since golden retrievers are considered one of the dog breeds with the best temperament and also one of the most emotionally intelligent dog breeds.

"Ahahahhahahahahahhaa mwah love this dog, sees the good in everyone 🤣🤣🤣," wrote one netizen, while another suggested, "Get Nash a guard dog to protect him." The people of the internet also had some harsh words for the intruder. "That guy definitely deserves prison. I mean who does that? How do you not play with the dog?" one joked. Another quipped, "His worst crime here was not playing tug of war with the doggo Nash."
