Maltipoo Doesn't Let Mom's Surgery Recovery Stop Her From Demanding Attention
Have you ever heard of a Velcro dog? These clingy cuties may follow you around the house, constantly demand snuggles, and get pretty upset when you're apart. According to a viral TikTok video, surgery recovery might not stop them from demanding attention, either! Or it at least won't stop one determined Maltipoo with a pretty serious need for her mom's uninterrupted eye contact.

"My dog is not a fan of all of my recovery time I've been spending on the couch post-wisdom tooth removal," said the TikToker. The Maltipoo's mom is found scrolling on her phone, attempting to relax horizontally on the couch. A bag of frozen peas sits right above her, likely in preparation for any forthcoming pain. However, the Maltipoo sitting diligently on top of her is totally nonplussed by this setup.
Nope, instead, the Maltipoo commences to knock her mom's hand down each time she lifts it back up. The two even have a stare-off at one point, as if the pup was saying "enough is enough" to her mom's phone time. The Maltipoo's demanding gesture is quite reminiscent of another clingy pup who wouldn't take his paw off of his mom when she tried to leave, in that both doggos simply want their parent's undivided attention. But can we really expect any less from our beloved Velcro pups?
Are all Maltipoos this demanding?
Now, Velcro dogs are one thing, but when you pair that with this Maltipoo's assertiveness, it makes for a pretty spunky dog. Plus, this demanding, dramatic energy's not unlike others of the breed, like one Maltipoo that howled for a pup cup even though he just had one. So, is this crossbreed canine a bit of a stubborn one, in general?
Maltipoos are a small hybrid mix of the Maltese and toy or miniature poodles. Both Maltese and mini poodles are known to be quite loving, energetic, and loyal. However, both breeds can be a bit overprotective. Maltese can make great watchdogs with their alert nature, and poodles, bred for hunting with astute senses, can exhibit some aggressive behavior that may translate as stubborn if not properly trained.
Maltipoos can take on any variation of their mixes' traits, so it's important to keep an eye out for overprotective behavior. Also, like most small dogs that weigh under 10 pounds, Maltese are susceptible to small dog syndrome, a learned behavior that can lead to unnecessary aggression if they are not socialized properly. Luckily, Maltipoos are lovable little canines who can get along with pretty much anyone, and they're wonderful pets. But if you ever run into a bit of bossy-pants behavior, look to these fur babies' roots for your answer.
