Dapper Dachshunds Take Over Paris For Annual Sausage Walk — Give Them A Runway, Stat
There's just something about dachshunds that brings out the silliness in people in the best way possible. Need proof? Look no further than the seventh annual Paris Sausage Walk. Though 3,217 doggos were officially registered for the lighthearted event on October 4, 2026, plenty more than that showed up to strut their stuff on Paris' iconic Les Champs-Élysées.
Many of the dapper doggos were decked out in their finest cowboy chic to walk along the high-end street filled with luxury shops, theaters, and sidewalk cafes. Some of the wiener dogs wore superhero costumes, soccer jerseys, and tutus, while others sported cozy sweaters, Parisian striped shirts with berets, denim overalls, and dinosaur onesies. Of course, countless sausage dogs were dressed in hot dog costumes. Some of the more pampered pooches were carted around in handbags or pushed along in carriages.
Timed to coincide with Paris Fashion Week, the annual Paris Sausage Walk raises funds for Teckels Sans Doux Foyer. This charity rescues and rehabilitates dachshunds that have been mistreated or abandoned.
Many dachshunds put up with silly costumes
It doesn't take much imagination to visualize sausage dogs as supermodels, strutting along the catwalk on their short little legs. After all, these sassy puppers love to be the center of attention, and they also tend to be cute as a button. A typical dachshund has a big personality and an equally big bark despite its small body size. Besides, some of the common personality traits of dachshunds include independence and playfulness. Despite being strong-willed, even stubborn, these petite pooches often become so devoted to their chosen humans that they will put up with being dressed in all manner of silly costumes — especially ones that make their long bodies part of the joke — from bananas and corn dogs to trains and limousines.
