Black Poodle With A Gnarly Beard Looks Like He Belongs In Pirates Of The Caribbean
Spooky season has officially arrived. It's the time of year when Halloween-loving pet owners choose to dress up a Newfoundland dog as a pumpkin or a fluffy cat as Count Dracula. Then there are the pets who don't need a special outfit to look like they're wearing a costume. Take, for example, a black toy poodle named Mordecai. An image shared on The Black Poodle Group on Facebook shows Mordecai's very impressive silver-gray beard. The photo is captioned, in part, "My parents are big into pirating and that's why I have a beard. It's pretty cool that it's silver! Huzzah, 'me hearties and woof to poodle love!"
Facebook commenters enjoyed the dog's no-costume-required pirate cosplay. One person wrote, "Lovely to see other swashbuckling poodles out in the wild!π΄ββ οΈπ©πΎπ" Some called the dashing doggo "adorable," "regal," and "handsome" and compared him to a "cool biker dude" or a wise old wizard like Gandalf from "The Lord of the Rings." One netizen gushed about Mordecai, "Like a tiny adorable cartoon character to smoosh with love π."
Keeping a dog's beard clean
Some netizens expressed their dislike of the toy poodle's pirate beard, suggesting that it should be snipped off, but most deemed it cute. "I love it but how do you keep it clean?" one person asked, to which Mordecai's owner responded, "He goes to the groomer every two weeks. He's a very clean dog. No problem with food getting in it. It does get wet when he drinks water. β€οΈ" For bearded dogs who aren't as tidy, gentle daily grooming at home might be needed. This might involve brushing, combing, trimming, and cleaning with either a wet facecloth or a disposable pet-cleaning wipe.
Another netizen suggested that Mordecai's cute beard should be braided. The dog's owner replied, "We do braid it for parades and other functions! He loves the attention!" Here's hoping that photos of Mordecai and his braided beard get shared on social media soon.
