Fluffy Cat Loves To 'Belly Trap' His Owner — But She's Not Falling For It Any Longer

Sipping coffee first thing in the morning. Stealing someone else's French fries. Napping on a lazy Sunday afternoon. There are some actions pretty much universally agreed to be irresistible. For cat lovers, wanting to pet fuzzy kitty tummies has a spot high up on that list. Rare is the feline aficionado who can ignore the temptation of gloriously fluffy kitties stretched out on their backs, with their bellies on display for all the world to admire.

To see one of the most enticingly floofy bellies imaginable, check out a ragdoll cat named Sir George. In an amusing YouTube Short, Sir George lies on his back, paws in the air, while his owner narrates. "What you're seeing here is a classic example of a belly trap, which Sir George has perfected to a science," she explains. "He lures you in with slow blinks to make you believe the belly is safe to touch." But, she warns, succumbing to the allure of Sir George's trap will lead the cat to "show off his bunny-kicking skills." She concludes with, "If you value your hands, you will keep them to yourself."

The allure of rubbing a cat's belly

Netizens were almost unanimous in their willingness to fall victim to Sir George's cunning trap. "The floofy Venus handtrap that can lure you in with his cuteness," wrote one, and another commented, "I don't know how I could resist this extremely cute Predator! Oh well...say bye to my hands 🙌😄💙." A third quipped, "Worth it 😂😂 those are scars of love ❤."

A cat stretched out on its back, showing off its vulnerable stomach area, is conveying feelings of safety and relaxation. However, that doesn't necessarily mean the cat wants its stomach to be touched. Each cat is different. By closely observing your cat's body language, you should be able to learn to tell the difference between an expression of love and trust versus an invitation to rub the kitty's tummy.

Several viewers of the YouTube Short revealed that their own cats do enjoy belly rubs, with one writing, "My cat actually like belly rubs and pats, he's basically a dog 😂."
