Black Lab Hilariously Outgrows His Puppy Bed But Refuses To Accept Reality

If it fits, I sits. One black Lab named Kenai has taken this saying to heart by refusing to give up the bed he loved as a puppy, even though he sized out of it long ago. In a YouTube video posted by content creators Paulie and Bri in August 2026, we see him curled up and perched on what was his very first bed, refusing to face reality. He even adorably shared the limited space with his stuffed lamb. Paulie and Bri have a second dog, a white one named Koda, but it's unclear if the two doggos shared this bed.

Some commenters encouraged Paulie and Bri to toss the bed, but others were more creative in their solutions. One wrote, "Stitch a 2nd bed into the first bed," while another suggested, "You should put his first bed in a bigger bed use it as a pillow." Many viewers were reminded of their own pets, too. One commented, "My daughter's dog loves his baby bed too!" Another shared less of a sweet ending for their pup's first resting spot: "My dog ate his first bed."

Choosing the right bed for your dog

Paulie and Bri have purchased a bigger bed, but bidding adieu to his puppy bed isn't something Kenai is quite ready to do. Dogs sleep up to 18 hours a day, so they need a bed that's cozy, but choosing the right one is about more than comfort. You should also look for a bed that supports your pet's joints and has features that make it easy to clean, such as a removable, washable cover. Hilariously, some pets also decide that the best place to rest isn't a bed at all. We've seen baby kangaroos cuddle up in laundry baskets and an adorable Jack Russell chill in the hot tub, though we naturally wouldn't recommend those spots as long-term resting places.

No matter how carefully you select your pet's new bed, even the best-laid plans may be ignored. As we can see in this video, you can follow all the steps to choose the perfect bed, but sometimes the heart wants what the heart wants. For more sleepy-time cuteness, check out the dog mom who got creative to ensure her Chihuahua enjoyed an uninterrupted nap.
