Cuteness Interviews Doug the Pug

Maya Marin

Love pugs? Love pop culture? Love pugs that love pop culture? If yes, then say hello to your new favorite celebrity pet—Doug the Pug! Not only does this ladies man look dashing in his doggie duds, but he's also a natural in front of the camera when filming homages to some of his favorite movies and TV shows. In fact, his videos are what made us fall in love with Doug in a big way, so if you haven't seen them, then get watching.

Of course, we aren't alone in our love for His Pugness. Not only do Doug's 1.5 million plus (and counting!) followers go gaga over the little guy, The Huffington Post also took notice of Doug's talent in front of the camera and made this video featuring him. Cuteness recently had the honor of interviewing Doug, so read on to find out what he had to tell us about binge-watching TV shows on Netflix, spreading happiness to people on the streets of Nashville (his hometown), the summer's best twerking song, and more.

First of all, we're very excited to be able to speak to the King of Pop Culture himself, Doug the Pug! So, who are some of your favorite pop culture icons?

Hi! I’ve been told that I’m the pug version of Ryan Gosling. I love Leo Decaprio too, he’s the ultimate ladies man. Apparently Joe Jonas is a big pug fan and I wanna hang with him!

——

We absolutely love your video homages to some of our favorite TV shows, including Pug is the New Black (Orange is the New Black), The Walking Pug (The Walking Dead), and Breaking Pug (Breaking Bad). You look so at ease in front of the camera! Did you receive any formal dramatic training?

Why thank you! My owner started dressing me up when I was a puppy so I am what they call a natural. Or a prodigy. Or both.

——

We hear that you're prone to binge-watching full seasons of shows at once—as are we. What are you looking forward to watching next?

Netflix for life. Lately I’ve had a guilty pleasure for the Bachelorette..but I’m super excited for the new Walking Dead!

——

We also love the touching video in which you deliver uplifting messages to people in your hometown of Nashville. What inspired you to do such an awesome thing, and what was the best part of that experience for you?

People need happiness in their day, and I wanted to see just how much I could bring to people in my stomping grounds. My goal was for people to follow my example and leave notes for strangers around their town! Kindness is like confetti. My favorite part of that experience was going up to people that I may not always go up to, and realizing that we’re all human at the end of the day. Compassion goes a long way.

Ok, let's talk clothes, since you wear 'em so well! You're always rocking cool outfits, costumes, and funky accessories in your photos. Do you pick out your own clothes, or do you typically leave that to a stylist? I have a stylist, but I’m pretty picky about how I look! I gotta look good for the ladies.

——

Since you’re obviously a big music fan (and live in Music City!) we were wondering if you had any aspirations toward a musical career yourself. Do you sing or play any instruments?

My Dad is a drummer so I really want to learn the drums. Particularly the Phil Collins’ drum solo in “In The Air Tonight”

Finally, what's your summer jam for 2015? Worth It by Fifth Harmony. The perfect twerking song!
