Behind his chiseled abs and washboard stomach lies a heart of gold: Actor Zac Efron saved an adorable puppy from euthanasia earlier in the month when he made the last-second decision to adopt her.
The 30-year old Baywatch star shared the news with his 34 million followers on Instagram, captioning a picture of the new duo cuddling together with a simple introduction: "Hey planet 🌎, this is MACA. #adoptdontshop".
Left unsaid, however, was that Efron had agreed to foster the pup who was previously named Tilly just before she was scheduled to be put down — only to fall madly in love with her (relatable AF, amirite or amirite?).
In a separate post, Bark n' Bitches, a Los Angeles shelter and humane pet shop, re'grammed Efron's pic and detailed how the pair came together with a bit of humor (bolding ours):
"Tilly now MACA was being led to the kill room when we stepped in and said we would take her. She was turned around and brought to us! This guy named Zac Efron came in (we hear he is an actor, but we think he actually waits tables) came in and fell in love. He went through our application process and fostered MACA and just could not give her back. So MACA now lives with Zac! This is her happily ever after! Happy life MACA! Happy Life."
A noted animal lover, Efron's actually been pet-less since late 2016, when as Cuteness reported, he had to say goodbye to his beloved Australian shepherd, Puppy:
"'Through thick and thin you've always been my best friend. I'll see you at the finish line, RIP Puppy Efron. 🙏🏽👼 "Felt hog tied ever since my dog died/ He lived to 84, damn, that's a long ride/ I know he up there he just sit and he wait/ I'll be racing up the stairs I'mma get to the gate singing" 🎶' -Chance the Rapper"
Here's hoping the new couple have many years of happiness to come and good on Efron, a huge Hollywood star, for using his platform to encourage pet adoptions.
